    FAQ

    Q. Who can join the Canyon Springs Swim Team?
    A. Children ages 5 -18. Residents who live within the Canyon Springs HOA (Estates, Trails and Reserves, San Miguel, Bluffs, Boulders, Coves, Enclave, Links, Summit, Villas and Waters) will be able to join under the resident fee of $165 for first swimmer and $135 for additional swimmers.

Non-HOA members can can join the swim team for $195 for first swimmer!

    Q. Does my child need to know how to swim before joining the team?
    A. We believe every child should be able to learn how to swim. We highly encourage beginner swimmers be at practice everyday. This will build their confidence, strength, and endurance in the water. Our goal is for EVERY child is to be able to experience in at least one swim meet.

    Q. What swim techniques will my child learn?
    A. Swimmers of all ages will be taught how to race, dive, and how to swim freestyle and backstroke. More advanced swimmers will be introduced to breaststroke, butterfly, and flip turns.

    Q. Will my son have to wear briefs?
    A. No! Teams choose a jammer suit for boys--a bicycle-short suit that comes to just above the knee in length. They do have the option to wear briefs if they would like, but it is not required. Team suits are available to purchase through SwimFreak, either online or in person.

    Q. When will the team practice?
    A. The team practices begin early May, starting with evening practices until both NEISD and Comal ISD are released for summer. Upon summer release, practices will switch over to mornings through the end of June. The league will finish the season with a championship meet.

    Q. When are meets conducted?
    A. Dual meets do not usually begin until children are out of school for the summer--depending upon the calendar. The first meet will be held the last Saturday of May. Teams usually host dual meets on Saturday mornings, but some meets may be held at different times, (possible Monday meets), depending on the circumstances of each swim team.

    Q. How many meets would we compete in?
    A. Teams have four dual meets, a meet with one other team, and a division championship meet against all the teams in their division.

    Q. What if my child cannot make all practices; is it a problem?
    A. Obviously, the more practices a child can attend, the faster he/she improves. The team realizes that there are times when a swimmer is sick or has a prior commitment. We offer practices 5 days a week to allow every participant the opportunity to be able to get in as many practices as their schedule allows.

    Q. Does my child have to compete in a meet?
    A. No. It is up to the parent to determine if their child(ren) are ready to compete in a meet. Any swimmer wanting to compete in an individual race at Champs will be required to compete at least once in a regular season meet.

    Q. Fees?

    A. The registration fee includes the swim instruction fees for coaches, as well as sports insurance coverage and Championship league fees. The team swim suit and swim caps are not covered in the team registration fee.

    • Non-HOA - 1st swimmer $195

    Q. Do parents need to participate?

    Q. Who will be teaching my children?
    A. Highly-qualified, certified instructors who teach swimming, or who competed in year-round, summer league, high school, or college programs.
